Music Still Dominates YouTube
Cats: Music Promotion, Wisdom|
Music is still dominating YouTube hit counts. This means that getting and marketing your music on YouTube is as important as it ever was, if not more. Use this service to your advantage.
Implementing your own strategy is key to keep people interested. For many, it seems too contrived to copy someone else’s plan and possibly backfire. Being original and entrepreneurial is what you want to aim for. Some key strategies to see success have been: Palomine’s The World Is Listening, and Boyce Avenue’s cover songs.
Most music being searched for is major label music, however, with an original idea, and some time spent, you can find new fans and spread your art with YouTube. Maybe try an innovative new music video, or a videolog series offering rewards to fans for tuning in and somehow contributing. Contemporary Jazz musician Raul Midon benefit from his appearance at the 2007 TED talks, when they produced a professional live set, which found its way onto the TED website, and garnered quite a few views on YouTube as well.
Innovation and originality are great ways to start, but getting people to watch is the key… and have fun with it while you’re at it.
