Looks like Google has its eyes set to the music industry in its next big announcement.

The company is slated to release a new service which offers streaming and downloading within its search.

Rumoured to be similar to its calculator function, when searching for an artist or song, the box will appear and allow streaming.

The box will also carry links to the artist’s information, or a link to purchase the song.

While it doesn’t offer the purchase features that iTunes or Amazon carry, it is a great feature for searching and buying music.

Google currently carries almost 65% of the internet search share.

Not surprisingly Google has opted to use iLike and LaLa services over Apple’s iTunes for its streaming and purchase links. The two company’s makeshift partnership of past seemed to have come to an end.

Time will tell what this service will accomplish, but its a great venue for driving music sales, and making music easier to find for consumers.

The question is how can entrepreneurial artists take advantage of this new service to gain some limelight, as has been done by others with services such as Twitter and MySpace.
