Help Your Fans Avoid Taking Responsibility
Cats: Music Business, Music Promotion, Wisdom|By: Phil N.
Seth Godin’s wisdom can be applied to many different scenarios.
For indie artists this particular article means: make it as easy for your fans as possible.
If someone doesn’t have to do something they probably won’t, especially if it means doing work.
Make your website as easy to understand as possible, and put links in everything, so the fan doesn’t have to Google it themselves.
Also making it easy as possible to find and purchase your music is absolutely key to success. Only die-hard fans will go on a wild goose chase to find your music.
This is a great opportunity for marketers and others that want to engage with the public. If you can figure out how to communicate, “it’s not your fault,” then people will be grateful, and they’ll return. It might not be right, it might not be mature and it might not be the behavior society wants to advance, but it works.
