Global Self-Promotion License: Is This a Joke?
Cats: Music Business, Music Promotion|

When I saw the new Music Think Tank article from Bruce Warila this morning, my first natural response was shock, closely followed by anger. That’s what happens when you start reading these things before getting a coffee.
I gotta stop taking satire at face value. But it’s a tightrope. After all, when I read about ACTA, it sounded like a bad joke. It continues to look and sound ridiculous.
And in a province where the process of getting a driver’s license is a song and dance worthy of Rogers & Hammerstein, it makes one think twice before discounting something as a joke.
So when I see that you’ll need a license for self-promotion on the internet in 2010, there’s a certain amount of double-take before the obvious sets in (especially before the coffee kicks in).
Either I’m getting old and silly, or satire & reality have a lot in common.
In the spirit of good satire…

@JamesPew Haha sorry – pointed out that the video on http://ping.fm/EDqux was The Onion – then realized that wasn’t what the post was about
